Scott and Melanie: A Retail Love Story

Scott and Melanie met on the job. Scott hired Melanie to work in a store he manages, and from then on they were on a path to forever. Melanie is an artist and a teacher at Ontario Christian Schools. She has organized more than one Beautiful Art Exhibit with proceeds going to orphanages in Africa. Scott has dreams of running a recording studio and recently put together his own extended play album.

We had cloudy conditions and a little bit of drizzling rain, but we made the best of the photo shoot – had a picnic even – and got some great photos in Redlands. This was their engagement shoot. They will be getting married in a few months, and I’m pumped to be their wedding photographer.

David and Caitlin – Coldest shoot on record

We got so many great photographs up in Oak Glen. I love this shoot, mostly because I love hanging out with David and Caitlin. They are getting married in the Fall, and they are so excited about being engaged, taking photos, and everything about planning their wedding. It’s hard not to get excited with them. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in the hills of Oak Glen with the Fall colors as a backdrop to the start of their marriage. These guys rock. I want to photograph them every weekend!

Mike and Jennifer – Married on New Year’s Eve

What a way to bring in the New Year! Mike and Jennifer were married on the last night of 2010. Their engagement evening didn’t go quite as Mike had planned – a quiet sunset alone overlooking Redlands. There were people everywhere in Prospect Park. Each time Mike thought they’d found a secluded place where he could break out the champagne and pop the question, he was thwarted by others enjoying the same Southern California evening. After several interrupted attempts, Mike thought he’d lost his chance and he bagged the idea of proposing for the time being, at least, until after dinner when he pulled out the ring and asked Jennifer to marry him under a starry sky.

Their wedding was intimate and beautiful. It was held in a small chapel at Edwards mansion in Redlands. I was so glad to be part of it. It was a great way to party into 2011!

Nate and Sarah Engaged… Finally

They dated in secret to keep the rumors from spreading. It never worked. They are both high school teachers at Arrowhead Christian Academy, and their students and colleagues have been waiting for these two to announce their engagement for a while. I couldn’t wait to be the one to create the images of these two together. We had a great time in downtown Redlands. Congratulations, guys. I can’t wait for June!

Isn’t it Romantic – Art and Nicole

It’s a modern day love story. They were each looking for something – someone – real. They found each other on the web. Art is an incredibly ambitious business owner. Nicole is a nurse. Together they are awesome.

I loved shooting in San Bernardino for the first time. There were more places for great light and interesting settings than we had time for. I will definitely be back.

Alex and Lindsey – Engaged

Their story is so familiar: both music majors, they met in college while earning a degree in music at Cal State Long Beach. Lindsey and Alex will be married this spring. They are living the musician’s life – working a regular job during the day to pay the bills and gigging whenever they can to feed their hunger for music. Lindsey plays oboe. Alex plays the piano and loves Brahms. These guys were a lot of fun to hang out with. We did the shoot on Lindsey’s birthday, so had a special smiling guest with us during the shoot.

Wedding Season!

I am really looking forward to my first wedding season. Alyssa and Jay’s wedding is coming up in June and I’m starting to get very excited.

I shot a wedding in February with The Youngrens, an awesome husband and wife photography duo from San Diego. I never got around to blogging some of those images so I’m going to post some of them in the next few days in anticipation of the upcoming wedding season!

Jay and Alyssa – The Final Installment

Looking at these photos just makes me think about how much I love doing this. I always have such a great time hanging out with people for a couple of hours with a camera. I especially love working with couples because I can make them “interact” which usually ends up being a riot. Jay and Alyssa will be getting hitched this summer and I can’t wait shoot their wedding!

Jay and Alyssa – the First Installment

Finally! I’ve had some time to work on Jay and Alyssa’s session. We had a fantastic time finding places to make some great images. Mentone is really a fun place to have a camera. While we were taking these photos near the Mill Creek Cattle Co. Restaurant, the owner of the restaurant came out and said hello to us. She was very gracious and not at all upset that we were taking photos on what turned out to be the front porch of her house! She just encouraged us to have the reception at her restaurant.

More photos to come. I can’t wait to shoot Alyssa and Jay’s wedding this June!
