We wanted a rugged, Western kind of setting for one of the sets. I found this great cactus farm out in Beaumont that was great for photography.

Their boy has grown quite a bit since our last shoot. Plus, they’ve got a new one!

The next John Wayne, I think.

  1. Gorge yourself on post-holiday food until you feel too sleepy to help with the dishes
  2. Bribe children ages 2-64 with M&M’s to make them smile for the photographer
  3. Take the canoe out for a paddle and make-out session
  4. Challenge the in-laws to cornhole
  5. Relax in the tree swing
  6. Beat up on a snowman piñata until he drops a load of candy
  7. Repeat as desired

This photoshoot was a blast. How often do you get to use a full-sized teepee as a backdrop?

Now I got them all together with their parents!

The long Autumn makes for great photography in Southern California. The trees are still golden and the light is still warm. It was a beautiful day for photos.

When we were pregnant with our first daughter, Jill was so excited to tell Laura, because she knew Laura would have the perfect happy reaction. And Wit always seems to make me laugh, even when it’s at my own expense (retribution takes time Wit/Debo – someday…).

We were very happy to get to do a session with these guys, because they were one of our first clients more than three years ago. Had a great time with them.

I love working together with clients to create images that express their personalities and highlight the things they’re most passionate about. This family brought all kinds of ideas to the table and we had a blast shooting until the sun went down. And this little girl… what a hoot. She never stopped dancing and running and laughing. She even mooned me a couple times. In the end, a fun shoot = great, self-expressive images.
