I never thought I’d ever say this, but summer is coming too quickly. I wish things would just slow down. Yeah, I’m looking forward to my summer break from grad school. I’m looking forward to a trip back to Minnesota. And I’m really looking forward to having a couple major date nights/weekends with Jill. (We’ve each been planning.) But I’m really not looking forward to our year with my cousin and his family coming to a close. They will be heading back to the Midwest in July. We have had a great time with them here in Redlands. I really loved having a piece of my family – my childhood – here in California with me. I think the golden state will be a little lonelier when they leave. I think all of my friends (and especially Paul and Danae) are going to have to invite me over for some pity pizza this summer. If you don’t invite me, I’ll likely show up on my own, so don’t be surprised.

Remember this little thing? Well she’s getting bigger, fast. I really enjoyed using the black backdrop for this shoot to create more of a studio feel for these images.

Josie – Sooo Cute!

Josie just keeps getting bigger. It’s really fun to photograph a baby several times in their first year. She’s much chunkier than she was in our first shoot. Her parents tell me she’s off the charts in height – definitely a Wiers.

She’ll be very popular with the boys with this kind of behavior.

Isaac Turns One!

I have loved photographing Jacob and Isaac over the last two years. Isaac has grown a lot since the first time I photographed him last summer. I love how he’s gone from being a smiley, chubby baby to being a smiley little boy. Enjoy being one Isaac!

It’s always an honor to photograph our friends and their kids. I’m especially excited to be doing a First Year Series with Josie. Matt and Cheryl are two of our closest friends. Maddie and Mackenzie love them, and I think our dog prefers them to us.

I’m looking forward to watching Josie change from one session to the next.

Isaac and Jacob in Oak Glen

I’ve had the privilege of photographing these two, or at least one of these two, several times in the last couple of years. Jacob is one of the kids that marks the beginning of Mark Leonard Imaging with his first shoot. And now Isaac is growing up alongside of him. It is a lot of fun watching these guys get older, bigger, and more capable. I can look through my photo archives and watch them grow.

Oak Glen is a beautiful place for photography. By far one of my favorite spots to shoot. The Fall sun brings out so many beautiful warm colors in the environment. The weather was pretty crisp when we went out to shoot a week or so ago, perfect for bringing out bright blue eyes and rosy cheeks.

Baby Time

A little over a year ago, my cousin, Jeremiah traveled out to Redlands from North Dakota for a quick visit. He was here to interview for a medical fellowship with Kaiser. Jill and I were really excited about the possibility of Jeremiah and his family coming out here for a year, but Fontana was just one of several places around the country in which he was interviewing. Happily for us, California won out. I think it had something to do with Rubio’s tacos. The year is going very quickly, but we’ve been having a great time getting to know them and their kids, who are a riot by the way. The kids bring a lot of energy to their house. But apparently, not enough.

This little girl was born just a couple of months ago. She gets lots of attention from her siblings, and it’s fun to see the kind of energy she brings to their home.
