The Treurs are back, and this time they’ve expanded their family by two teenagers! Apparently, their little one was too much for Greg and Rachel to handle so they called in some assistance from Korea. The baby loves these guys. They are students at Arrowhead Christian Academy and are temporarily adopted by Greg and Rachel while they study here.

There were times in my first year of teaching in Baldwin Park that the Lapka house was like a spa vacation for me. After six days of rehearsing with students, the Lapkas were a paradise-like refuge from a group of kids who were occasionally less than cooperative and pleasant to deal with. It was always really hard to drive back from Temecula on a Sunday night. We had fun with them before we had kids, and now we have fun watching our kids have fun – except when Caleb and Maddie throw down in a toddler death-match complete with political strategies and victimization tactics. They seem to have a love/hate releationship.

The Knights are a special family to Jill and me. Ken is an all-star equipment mover on band concert nights, and he’s an original member of our jazz combo, Four Jacks and a Jill appearing live this weekend in San Bernardino. Becky was a our first long-term daycare person when Maddie was born, and she’s the one who met us at the hospital to take Maddie when baby #2 made an early appearance.
It was fun to spend an hour or two with them and their three boys during the portrait session. I think mom and dad are whispering sweet nothings to each other causing two of the boys to turn red and the third boy to cover his ears.
There is no shortage of humor in this family.
And the couple that started it all. I really love this series of these two.
