It’s important to me that our friends know how much we appreciate their unique talents. To that end, I take it upon myself to devise ways in which I might show my appreciation. Several of my friends – Julie In’t Hout, Ben Slagter, and my cousin Jeremiah – happen to be excellent with food. What better way to encourage them than to bring them all together and have them feed me? None. So, this weekend we all got together around their Spanish food creations and enjoyed ourselves. All of them worked very hard to research and prepare Spanish tapas for our families. But none worked as hard as I to be sure to eat more food than one ought to, and to direct complimentary gestures and satisfied groans of contentment toward the chefs the whole evening long.
To my friends who made all of that delicious food… you’re welcome.
A year ago, I got to do a shoot with these guys and their parents. This little guy was just a wee squirt. Now he’s running all over the place, squashing ladybugs and causing trouble. Nate and Becca don’t look a day older, of course.
There’s nothing like Christmas to bring everybody together. (In my family’s case we would finish that sentence with, “to share germs and get violently ill.”) This was a very special family session. Not only are Will and Ruth VIPs in our lives, but this session was won in the Holland Festival auction last spring. I was surprised and flattered to watch last May as the bidding for our photography session climbed up beyond $500 in the auction. Ruth knew that her four kids and their families would be coming to SoCal in Dec. 09 – perfect for family photographs – so she bid like crazy. We had a great time together during the session and got some beautiful shots..
And the pair that started it all…
Special thanks to Jess Hekman for coming out and lending a hand with this crazy family.
