Scott and Melanie: A Retail Love Story

Scott and Melanie met on the job. Scott hired Melanie to work in a store he manages, and from then on they were on a path to forever. Melanie is an artist and a teacher at Ontario Christian Schools. She has organized more than one Beautiful Art Exhibit with proceeds going to orphanages in Africa. Scott has dreams of running a recording studio and recently put together his own extended play album.

We had cloudy conditions and a little bit of drizzling rain, but we made the best of the photo shoot – had a picnic even – and got some great photos in Redlands. This was their engagement shoot. They will be getting married in a few months, and I’m pumped to be their wedding photographer.

Kim and Lucas – Expecting Big Things

Kim and Lucas are at one of those points in their lives where everything they have become used to is going to change forever. Lucas just graduated from medical school, they’re moving across the country to New York City, AND they’re going to have a baby!! I think they are going to love being in New York despite the fact that Kim has some reservations about being a New Yorker for the next five years.

We got together to take some photos of them as Californians before they hit the road for the east coast. The light was perfect during this early morning shoot. We had a blast together. Good luck guys!

David and Caitlin – Coldest shoot on record

We got so many great photographs up in Oak Glen. I love this shoot, mostly because I love hanging out with David and Caitlin. They are getting married in the Fall, and they are so excited about being engaged, taking photos, and everything about planning their wedding. It’s hard not to get excited with them. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in the hills of Oak Glen with the Fall colors as a backdrop to the start of their marriage. These guys rock. I want to photograph them every weekend!

Nate and Sarah Engaged… Finally

They dated in secret to keep the rumors from spreading. It never worked. They are both high school teachers at Arrowhead Christian Academy, and their students and colleagues have been waiting for these two to announce their engagement for a while. I couldn’t wait to be the one to create the images of these two together. We had a great time in downtown Redlands. Congratulations, guys. I can’t wait for June!

Isn’t it Romantic – Art and Nicole

It’s a modern day love story. They were each looking for something – someone – real. They found each other on the web. Art is an incredibly ambitious business owner. Nicole is a nurse. Together they are awesome.

I loved shooting in San Bernardino for the first time. There were more places for great light and interesting settings than we had time for. I will definitely be back.

Alex and Lindsey – Engaged

Their story is so familiar: both music majors, they met in college while earning a degree in music at Cal State Long Beach. Lindsey and Alex will be married this spring. They are living the musician’s life – working a regular job during the day to pay the bills and gigging whenever they can to feed their hunger for music. Lindsey plays oboe. Alex plays the piano and loves Brahms. These guys were a lot of fun to hang out with. We did the shoot on Lindsey’s birthday, so had a special smiling guest with us during the shoot.

Hekmans

When I need help with my sprinklers, Matt is there for me. When I need someone to lend me gopher traps, Matt is the guy I call. The Hekmans have been friends of ours for years. Jess is incredibly creative and loves photography. She recently started her own photography business. Check her out! Their little family has grown by one since the last time I photographed them. We had a lot of fun with balloons and bubbles and jumping off of rocks.

Jeff and Carmen – Expecting

We scheduled this maternity session just in time. Five days after the shoot, their little girl arrived. I’m so glad we got some photos of Carmen and Jeff before the baby came. It’s fun to look back at that cool pregnancy time.

We’ve known Jeff and Carmen ever since we arrived in Southern California from the snowy north. We’ve been in bible studies together, gone to church together, and most importantly we’ve rocked out together. These guys are great. I had the awesome opportunity to go take some photos of their new arrival in the hospital (photos coming soon), and no one could be happier to be a dad than Jeff. Their little girl is very lucky to have these two as parents.

Some photo setups fail, and its best to just laugh.

I don’t think I could ever get tired of shooting these two. Bob and Sheila wanted to have a session after the wedding when we could really take the time to have fun and get creative. I’ve been wanting to do a session in Beaumont for a long time, so I couldn’t wait for this shoot.

Jay and Alyssa – The Final Installment

Looking at these photos just makes me think about how much I love doing this. I always have such a great time hanging out with people for a couple of hours with a camera. I especially love working with couples because I can make them “interact” which usually ends up being a riot. Jay and Alyssa will be getting hitched this summer and I can’t wait shoot their wedding!
