The Crumplers – Walter Turns One!

One of the best parts about being a family photographer is getting to photograph kids as they grow up. I met Walter and his parents last year about this time. Now Walter is about to turn one, and he’s laughing, walking, and looking very swanky in that sweater vest. Great to see you guys again!

Saturday afternoon with three girls

We had the afternoon all to ourselves yesterday, so we decided to set up the backdrop for a little afternoon photo shoot. Maddie loves photoshoots. And we told Mackenzie that this was as close to the beach as she was going to get for a while.

There was a little dispute over who got to put their arm around Katelyn.

Meet Halle

This is Halle. She’s awesome. When we brought our three-year-old daughter, Maddie, into Loma Linda Children’s Hospital last May for cancer treatment Halle and her parents were our first roommates. Since then, we have gotten to know them and the disease Halle is fighting. Fighting is an understatement. Halle is an incredibly strong little girl. She has fought off the effects of three rounds of chemotherapy, she’s fought the temptation to be anything but happy and cheerful, and she’s about to fight through the havoc that a bone marrow transplant will have on her little body.

Jill and I think about Halle and her family constantly. As difficult as the last few months have been for us, we feel lucky that our treatment stage is over. Halle and her parents have a long road ahead of them. But we believe in them. Like I said, Halle is a three-year-old tank, and her parents are great parents. They continue to juggle their lives with grace and courage. If you’re interested in learning more about Halle, check out her Facebook page. They will need all of our prayers, encouragement, and support over the next three years (that’s right, three years until they breathe easier).

Our photo-shoot was just before Halle’s family birthday party, so she and her little brother were a little squirrelly, but we got some great moments of all of them. I enjoyed climbing a tree to get the angle for some of the family shots.

Sometimes I think I have the best looking photography blog in the Inland Empire just because I put the Treurs up there so often. Genevieve turned one this month, so of course we had to get some photos. But I had to shoot quick because she did not like to stand still.

Summertime

There’s nothing like watermelon, bikes, and colorful dresses to mark the arrival of summer. These girls are always fun to shoot. It must be in their genes. We took advantage of some great Redlands locales for this shoot. And mom worked her tail off chasing, making faces, and entertaining her girls. This was definitely a team effort. Well worth the effort, I think.

The Pitts Family

This little guy is the newest addition to the Pitts family. He’s very talented – able to be happy in a basket, in a box, and on a blanket in the park. He’s going to have to get a little lighter on his feet to keep up with his older sister. In order to get a photograph her sitting still I had to wait for the moment that she collapsed in the grass from exhaustion after running non-stop in the park.

How could you not love these guys? I had the privilege of photographing their wedding in Michigan a couple of years ago, and now I get to photograph their first daughter. Grandma and Grandpa got in on the action too. It was fun to implement Greg’s Detroit Lions vision.

Diedrich Family

Last summer I had the privilege of meeting the Diedrich family. I hoped that I would get to see them again, if not for a photoshoot then just to hang out. So I was very happy when they called this spring to schedule a shoot to celebrate their kids and to mark Justin’s graduation from Loma Linda’s dental school. I’m glad to see this little guy is doing alright despite the fact that I dumped him in the leaves during the first shoot.
